About
Imran Nuri is an artist based in Chicago who is best known for his photo series and book, Advice From America, in which he photographed 1,000 strangers across the lower 48 US states after asking each of them for life advice. His conclusion from the journey was that people have far more in common with one another than what makes them different.
Nuri's ongoing series photographing 1,000 different items 1,000 times each is a more abstract continuation of that theme. He photographs each of the 1,000 items individually before compositing them into a large-scale collage, ultimately creating a mirror to humanity—while our differences are clear at a micro scale, our similarities outweigh our differences at a macro scale.
Every item photographed by Nuri is made available as a 1 of 1, 12"x12" print in addition to the main, large-scale collages.
Each breathtaking 60"x96" collage is a one-of-a-kind arrangement, featuring 1,000 individual photographs of a single item—whether it’s potato chips, coffee beans, pennies, etc. The final result is an extraordinary visual experience: 40 items across by 25 items down, forming a captivating mosaic where each piece is subtly unique, yet part of a harmonious whole.
These massive collages are more than just art—they’re a reflection of our shared humanity. At first glance, you see the stunning scale, but look closer and you'll notice the fascinating differences. Each object, like each person, tells its own story. Yet, when viewed together, they remind us of the powerful truth that while we are all different, we are the same when seen at scale.
Owning one of these 1 of 1 prints is an invitation to contemplate the beauty of both individuality and unity—an inspiring tribute to what connects us all. These prints are as monumental in size as they are in meaning, designed to transform any space and invite viewers into a conversation about the ties that bind us.
